Ali has been writing fanfiction since she was fourteen, although the quality has improved somewhat from her initial ventures into the X-Files and Dark Angel fandoms. Which were horrible and we should never speak of again. She wrote rather regularly until 2010, when she had lost interest in most of her fandoms. In 2015, her love of Sherlock and a wonderful community that gathered around a particular story inspired her to begin writing again, first for that fandom and then for Zero Escape. It was exploring the cosplay part of that fandom that led her to meet her incredible girlfriend, Trickssi.
She's spent over twenty years either volunteering or working with at-risk populations and currently works as a number-cruncher in the social services field. A passionate liberal, she was proud to have volunteered with Hillary Clinton's 2016 Presidential campaign. She is the webmistress and occasional columnist at the Cosplayer Survivor Support Network, a group for members of the cosplay community who are survivors of harassment, trauma, sexual assault, or abuse. As a bisexual who is still struggles with clinical depression and anxiety, she works to help raise awareness about LGBTQ+ and mental health issues.
In 2017, she began cosplaying under the name Fractali (pronounced like "fractally"), incorporating both her given name and her love of math. While she's still growing in her costume construction skills, she plans to attend Tekko, Matsuricon, and Colossalcon East in 2018, hopefully debuting both Beli from HuniePop and Phi from Virtue's Last Reward.
She can be found on social media as GrumpsterKitty (Twitter), Fractali (Facebook & Ko-Fi) and NurseDianaKlim (Tumblr & Instagram). You can reach her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
